Rachel Sennott Teams Up with Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin in Upcoming Film ‘Kockroach’ Starting Next Week
EXCLUSIVE: Rachel Sennott, star and writer of I Love LA, has secured a pivotal supporting role in the upcoming feature Kockroach, directed by Matt Ross. She will appear alongside notable actors Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin. Filming is set to commence in Australia next week.
Set against a New York backdrop, Kockroach is inspired by the novel by William Lashner. The film narrates the story of a mysterious figure who infiltrates the city’s criminal underbelly, evolving into a larger-than-life boss in a realm where power reigns supreme. Ross directs from a screenplay by Jonathan Ames, known for You Were Never Really Here, with additional revisions by Ross.
Producers of the film include Andrew Lazar, known for American Sniper, and Christina Weiss Lurie, associated with Persuasion. Black Bear Media will continue to market international rights at the forthcoming Cannes Film Market, while CAA Media Finance and Range Select are jointly handling domestic representation.
The narrative of Lashner’s novel draws inspiration from Franz Kafka’s classic Metamorphosis, involving a man who awakens to find himself transformed into a cockroach—hinting at a whimsical supernatural element within the film.
Currently, Sennott is leading the writers’ room for the second season of HBO’s I Love LA, slated to shoot this year. Her involvement in Kockroach is not expected to hinder her work on the series. Additionally, she co-created and executive-produced Big Mistakes alongside Dan Levy for Netflix and is co-writing the script for The Heidi Fleiss Story, featuring Aubrey Plaza. Her film credits include Shiva Baby, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Saturday Night, Bottoms, and A24’s recent Sundance selection The Moment.
Sennott is represented by WME, OPE Partners, and Yorn, Levine.
