Prince Harry Addresses Prince William and Kate Middleton in Recent Statement during Tabloid Trial
Prince Harry testified today in his legal battle against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), presenting a contact list that included 10 notable names, among them his estranged brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. Harry characterized the media’s depiction of his life as a “nightmare.”
The duke’s emotional testimony marked the third day of his trial, during which he detailed the negative effects of press coverage on his private life. According to reports, the list was comprised of individuals with whom he maintained consistent contact over an 18-year period, from 1996 to 2014. This list was submitted as part of his assertion that ANL’s information was unlawfully obtained, highlighting that many of the reported details were shared solely with those named.
In his statement, he referred to Prince William as “HRH The Prince of Wales” and emphasized the unique challenges of their relationship, particularly the intense media scrutiny surrounding their family. “As brothers, we naturally discussed personal aspects of our lives, trusting each other with highly sensitive information,” he noted in court.
Harry’s testimony also touched on the impact of media intrusion, particularly following the passing of his mother, Princess Diana. Describing his experiences, he said, “I’ve never believed that my life is open season to be commercialized by these people,” adding, “They have made my wife’s life an absolute misery, my Lord.”
He recounted the anxiety caused by tabloid coverage, stating it left him “paranoid beyond belief.” Reflecting on the toll this has taken, he recounted the distress experienced by his ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, during their relationship. “It made her feel like she was being hunted, and the press had caught her,” he explained. “It was terrifying for me, too, because there was nothing I could do to stop it.”
The trial continues as Harry seeks accountability from the media, which he contends has repeatedly crossed ethical lines in its pursuit of stories related to his family and personal life.
