Police Search for Suspect in Fatal Stabbing Incident in Sylmar
Authorities are conducting a perimeter search in Sylmar following the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old woman, believed to have been attacked by her boyfriend. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a reported stabbing at the intersection of Beaver Street and Dronfield Avenue, near the westbound 210 Freeway, around 9:21 p.m. on Wednesday.
Witnesses informed police that the victim was assaulted by a man who subsequently fled the scene, according to an LAPD officer speaking with City News Service. The woman was discovered with multiple stab wounds during a welfare check and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Video footage captured on the scene showed paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department hastily transporting her into an ambulance. Reports indicate that the suspect is the victim’s boyfriend.
In the early hours of Thursday, around 5 a.m., officers established a perimeter near Hubbard and Eighth Street, approximately four miles from the site of the stabbing, as they searched for the suspect. The perimeter included Gridley Street Elementary School, but it remains unclear whether the school will hold classes on Thursday.
