Plan Ahead: Important 405 Freeway Closures Through Sepulveda Pass This Week
Lane Reductions and Ramp Closures on I-405 Sepulveda Pass This Week
Drivers planning to traverse the 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass during late-night hours this week should anticipate overnight lane reductions and ramp closures.
Caltrans has announced that several sections of the freeway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Saturday. These closures are part of the ongoing $143.7 million I-405 Sepulveda Pass Pavement Rehabilitation Project, which is focused on enhancing infrastructure between Van Nuys and Westwood.
Intermittent Closures This Week
Caltrans has outlined the affected routes, which will see intermittent closures this week:
- Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Sepulveda and Victory boulevards.
- Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center/Mulholland drives.
- Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Skirball Center/Mulholland drives and Sepulveda Boulevard.
- The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive.

Project Background
The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Pavement Rehabilitation Project spans a 10.2-mile segment of the freeway. It involves replacing two lanes in each direction from Victory Boulevard to Mulholland Drive, with a focus on improving safety and mobility along this vital corridor connecting Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley.
Initiated in 2025, the project is projected to conclude by winter 2028-2029. As construction progresses, intermittent closures like those occurring this week will continue to affect traffic in the area.
