Perrie Edwards, the renowned Little Mix singer, and her partner, English soccer player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, have expanded their family with the arrival of their second child, a baby girl. The joyful announcement came via Edwards’ Instagram on Saturday, January 17, accompanied by an endearing black-and-white photograph of their newborn.

The image captures the baby nestled against Edwards’ chest, with both Oxlade-Chamberlain and their four-year-old son, Axel, placing their hands lovingly on the new addition. In her post, Edwards shared that they named their daughter Alanis Valentine.

Messages of congratulations flooded in from Edwards’ fellow bandmates. Jade Thirwall expressed her happiness with a heartfelt comment, stating, “So happy for you all ♥️. And can’t wait to meet her ✨.” Fellow band member Leigh-Anne Pinnock called the newborn a “perfect little angel.”

Prior to this latest addition, the couple welcomed their son Axel on August 21, 2021. They first revealed they were expecting their second child in September 2025, with Edwards playfully announcing on Instagram, “Guess what hunnies…” along with a heart emoji.

In the related announcement, Edwards shared a black-and-white video, revealing her pregnancy in a fun way, where she turned to show a T-shirt reading “If he wanted to he would…” followed by “…and he did,” set to her song “If He Wanted to He Would.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain appeared in the announcement video, sharing a smile and a hug with Edwards. Axel also joined in the moment, tenderly kissing his mother’s belly, capturing the joyful family dynamic.

Previously, Edwards candidly discussed her experiences with pregnancy loss. In an August 2025 episode of the We Need to Talk podcast, she opened up about the multiple miscarriages she endured before and after Axel was born.

“I haven’t necessarily not shared it with people because I’m ashamed of it or anything,” she noted. “It’s just that it’s such a personal thing to go through, and it’s really hard.”

Reflecting on her past experiences, Edwards recounted the emotional challenges she faced, particularly during her second pregnancy. She vividly described nights on tour filled with anxiety, fearing each time she noticed bleeding. Despite doctors assuring her that the baby was still alive, she encountered additional difficulties.

For her 22-week scan, she faced devastating news when she and Oxlade-Chamberlain lost the baby. Edwards termed that day “the worst day of my life—like horrendous.”

Speaking to Glamour in September 2025, she shared that the entire experience was “very traumatic.”
