Pelicans Achieve Two Wins in a Row Against the Struggling Clippers
NEW ORLEANS — Trey Murphy III led the New Orleans Pelicans to a 105-99 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, extending their home winning streak to seven games. Murphy scored 27 points, showcasing his scoring prowess as the Pelicans secured their second consecutive win against the Clippers.
Saddiq Bey contributed 20 points, while Zion Williamson added 15, helping New Orleans complete a two-game sweep of the Clippers after a 124-109 triumph the previous night.
Dejounte Murray, recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, was rested for Thursday’s game. He had performed well in his previous outing, registering 17 points and a season-high 11 assists in just his ninth game since returning from injury last month.
For the Clippers, Derrick Jones Jr. led the team with 22 points, followed by John Collins with 18 and Bogdan Bogdanovic with 16. This loss marks the Clippers’ fourth consecutive defeat. Notably, Kawhi Leonard sat out after a recent 25-point performance due to a sprained left ankle.
The game turned when the Pelicans were trailing 94-91 with just over five minutes remaining. Williamson’s layup and Murphy’s three-pointer ignited a decisive 14-5 run, sealing the victory for New Orleans.
