Pasadena Humane Seeks Donations for Injured Puppy’s Recovery

Pasadena Humane has issued a call for donations to support the medical treatment of severely injured animals, including a puppy named Peanut, who is currently undergoing a complex recovery process. Peanut, discovered in Sierra Madre, arrived at the shelter on March 9 with traumatic injuries that left him with a dislocated jaw and significant facial damage.

Veterinary staff at Pasadena Humane have provided immediate care for Peanut and are now monitoring his recovery, which is expected to take several weeks. Shelter officials stated that, due to the extent of his injuries, there is insufficient skin to close the wound, necessitating a healing process from the inside out.

To aid his breathing during recovery, veterinarians have placed a stent to keep one of Peanut’s nostrils open. "Peanut still has a long healing journey ahead, but he’s already showing how resilient he is," Pasadena Humane noted in a statement. The organization further emphasized, "Despite everything, this little pup has been so brave."

Though Peanut will require ongoing treatment, shelter officials report that he is already showing signs of improvement. Contributions to Pasadena Humane’s Miracle Medical Fund will help offset the costs associated with treating animals like Peanut who suffer from severe injuries and complex medical needs.
