Peacock Announces Summer Release Date and First Look at ‘The Five Star Weekend’ TV Adaptation
Peacock is set to premiere the television adaptation of Elin Hildebrand’s novel The Five Star Weekend this summer, with all eight episodes slated for release on July 16, 2026.
The series is headlined by Jennifer Garner, who also serves as an executive producer. Garner is currently featured in another book adaptation, The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2, airing on Apple TV. The Five Star Weekend follows Hollis Shaw, a renowned chef and best-selling author known for her delectable recipes and charming personality. However, following a profound loss, Shaw’s life begins to unravel, impacting her marriage and relationship with her daughter as she struggles to cope.
“In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her twenties, thirties, and one surprise fifth star,” reads the series logline. “Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, the stars will mature in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed.”
The cast also includes D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Harlow Jane, and Timothy Olyphant, along with several other notable actors such as Rob Huebel, David Denman, and Judy Greer.
Bekah Brunstetter, who adapted the series, serves as both writer and executive producer, with Minkie Spiro directing. Beth Schacter is also involved as a writer and executive producer. Garner, Brunstetter, Schacter, and Spiro are joined by executive producers Sue Naegle, Ali Krug, Hildebrand, and Merri Howard.
The Five Star Weekend is produced by Universal Content Productions, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Hildebrand’s previous work, The Perfect Couple, was adapted for Netflix by Jenna Lamia, who was also the showrunner and executive producer of the six-episode series. A second season based on Hildebrand’s Swan Song is currently in development, originally spearheaded by The Bear executive producer Joanna Calo, who has since stepped back from her role.
