Paola Núñez Rejoins ‘The Son’ Co-Star Zahn McClarnon for a Regular Role in Season 5 of ‘Dark Winds’
Paola Núñez Joins Cast of AMC’s Dark Winds for Season 5
Paola Núñez, known for her roles in Fire Country and The Fall of the House of Usher, has officially joined the cast of AMC’s Dark Winds as a series regular for Season 5, which is currently in production in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Núñez will portray Luisa Alvarado, a lead investigator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, who has a connection to the past of Lt. Joe Leaphorn, played by Zahn McClarnon.
This new role marks a reunion for Núñez and McClarnon, who previously starred together in the AMC series The Son.
Based on Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee book series, Dark Winds is set in 1971 at a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation. The series follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn as he navigates a series of interconnected crimes while confronting the scars of his past. Accompanied by his new deputy, Jim Chee, played by Kiowa Gordon, the duo faces threats from external forces as well as their own personal demons.
Season 4 of the series centers on the urgent search for a missing Navajo girl, propelling Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito, portrayed by Jessica Matten, from the safety of the Navajo Nation to the dangerous streets of 1970s Los Angeles, where they race against time to save her from an obsessive killer connected to organized crime.
While the fourth season currently airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT, details about Season 5 remain under wraps.
The cast of Season 4 features additional talents, including Franka Potente as Irene Vaggan, Isabel DeRoy-Olson as Billie Tsosie, Chaske Spencer as Sonny, Luke Barnett as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw, and Titus Welliver as Dominic McNair, a ruthless crime boss. The season also sees the return of A Martinez as Acting Chief Gordo Sena of the Scarborough Police Department.
Created by Graham Roland and showrun by John Wirth, Dark Winds boasts a diverse group of executive producers, including the late Robert Redford, George R.R. Martin, McClarnon, and others.
Núñez is currently recurring on CBS’s Fire Country and has appeared in major roles in series such as Resident Evil and The Purge. She recently starred in a supporting role in Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
