Panthers Celebrate Victory as Kings Extend Winless Streak to Four Games
SUNRISE, Fla. — The Florida Panthers secured a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night, with Sam Bennett scoring just 10 seconds into the third period. The win allowed the Panthers to sweep the two-game season series against the Kings.
Supporting goals from Anton Lundell and Carter Verhaeghe contributed to Florida’s success, marking their sixth victory in the last seven games. Goalie Daniil Tarasov made 27 saves, including a crucial stop against the Kings’ Trevor Moore during a breakaway with under five minutes remaining, preserving Florida’s one-goal lead.
For the Kings, Joel Armia and Kevin Fiala each found the net, but the team continues to struggle, falling to 0-2-2 in their last four matches. This four-game winless streak matches their season-long slump earlier in October.
Kings’ goaltender Anton Forsberg recorded 25 saves throughout the contest. Armia netted the only goal of the first period, while Fiala brought the score to 3-2 with a fortunate deflection off his shin midway through the third period.
In the final minutes, the Kings had an opportunity to equalize after Lundell was penalized for high-sticking with 3:05 remaining. However, they managed only one shot during their power play, which was complicated by pulling Forsberg for an extra attacker.
Bennett’s early third-period goal tied for the third-fastest goal to start any period this season, alongside notable scores from other players in league play.
In upcoming games, the Kings will face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night, while the Panthers will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.
