One Battle After Another Triumphs at 2026 Golden Globe Awards
Los Angeles – One Battle After Another claimed the prestigious Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical on Sunday, January 11, at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards. The film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, triumphed over competitors including Blue Moon, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, and Nouvelle Vague.
The evening marked a stellar performance for One Battle After Another, which secured four awards in total. Not only did Anderson win for Best Director and Best Screenplay, but actress Teyana Taylor also received accolades for her supporting role.
Comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the ceremony, which aired live on CBS and was available for streaming on Paramount+ in the United States.

The film, which satirizes radical politics, also features a noteworthy cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall, and Sean Penn. One Battle After Another is currently available for streaming on HBO Max and is Anderson’s first project since 2021’s Licorice Pizza.
Having led the nominations with nine, One Battle After Another previously earned recognition at the Critics Choice Awards, where it won three trophies, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Ethan Hawke, nominated for his performance in Blue Moon, also found success at the Golden Globes. He joins a strong nominee group that also included Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), George Clooney (Jay Kelly), Lee Byung-Hun (No Other Choice), and Jesse Plemons (Bugonia).

Bugonia, featuring Emma Stone, also received nominations, including for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture. Stone plays Michelle, a pharmaceutical company CEO who faces an existential threat after being kidnapped by conspirators.

Meanwhile, Marty Supreme, featuring Timothée Chalamet, depicts the story of a pro table tennis player and his journey toward achieving his dreams. Chalamet’s performance has earned him accolades and further nominations at the Golden Globes.

Lee Byung-hun in No Other Choice.

No Other Choice from director Park Chan-wook follows Yoo Man-su, portrayed by Lee Byung-hun, a man grappling with the fallout of unemployment after a company buyout. The film grapples with darker themes and was also recognized with a nomination for Best Motion Picture (Non-English Language).

Nouvelle Vague, another film by Richard Linklater, explores the legacy of the French New Wave through Jean Seberg’s journey. This film is also nominated in the Musical or Comedy category, adding to Linklater’s impressive portfolio at this year’s awards.
