Deputy Arrested on Charges of Sexual Battery and False Imprisonment
A Riverside County correctional deputy has been arrested following an investigation into serious allegations, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Yash Patel, 29, was taken into custody on Saturday in Jurupa Valley and faces one count of sexual battery and one count of false imprisonment.
Patel, who began his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office in July 2021, was most recently assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center. The investigation was initiated by the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau on March 7, 2026, concerning incidents involving this off-duty deputy.
In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability among its employees. Allegations of misconduct, they noted, are treated with utmost seriousness and are subject to thorough investigation.
The investigation continues, with no further details about the case being released at this time. As a precautionary measure, Patel has been placed on paid administrative leave while the administrative investigation is underway.
