Nicole Kidman to Co-Chair 2026 Met Gala with Daughter Sunday
Nicole Kidman has confirmed her role as co-chair for the upcoming 2026 Met Gala, and she is excited to share the experience with her daughter, Sunday Rose Urban. In a recent appearance on the "Las Culturistas" podcast, Kidman discussed the significance of the event, saying, “I think it’s the third time I’ve cochaired. To do it now, I’m so, so happy — and my daughter Sunday will be coming.”
Kidman, 58, who shares daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15, with ex-husband Keith Urban, also has two older children from her marriage to Tom Cruise. She and Urban, 58, finalized their divorce earlier this year after two decades of marriage.
In a statement to Variety, Kidman reflected on her personal journey following the separation, expressing gratitude for her family. “I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” she said. “That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be.”
This will not be Kidman’s first time co-hosting the iconic fashion event. She previously led the gala in 2003 and 2005, often attended the event alongside Urban. Most recently, she attended the May 2025 gala solo, wearing a sculptural Balenciaga gown.
For the 2026 Met Gala, Kidman will co-chair alongside high-profile figures including Beyoncé, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. The event will feature a “Costume Art” theme, signifying a pivotal moment for fashion within the museum context. Andrew Bolton, the museum’s curator, noted the gala’s role in celebrating the connection between fashion and the museum’s extensive collections.
Kidman is particularly thrilled to share this experience with Sunday, who has expressed a keen interest in the fashion industry. Kidman shared on the podcast that Sunday recently walked in a Dior show, adding, “I have nothing to do with it. It’s her own whole world and her relationship [with designer Jonathan Anderson]. It’s incredible.”
Sunday made her runway debut during Miu Miu’s 2025 spring/summer presentation and has since booked several modeling gigs. In a previous interview, she mentioned how observing her mother’s photo shoots inspired her interest in modeling. “Growing up, I went to my mom’s photo shoots a lot and got to observe, which definitely led to my interest,” she said.
As excitement builds for the 2026 Met Gala, Kidman and her daughter’s joint appearance is expected to capture significant attention, bridging generations in the realm of high fashion.
