NFL’s First Female Official Shares Experience of Gender Discrimination and Harassment in Lawsuit
Former NFL Official Sues League for Gender Discrimination
Robin DeLorenzo, one of the pioneering female officials in the NFL, has filed a lawsuit against the league, claiming gender discrimination, harassment, and retaliation following her termination in February 2025.
In her legal action, DeLorenzo alleges that throughout her tenure, she encountered significant challenges, including "gender-based scrutiny, humiliation, disparate training, unequal gear, and open hostility." These assertions highlight a broader concern regarding the treatment of women in professional sports.
The NFL, however, has firmly denied her allegations, asserting that DeLorenzo’s termination resulted from "three seasons of documented underperformance."
The case brings attention to ongoing issues of gender equity in sports, raising questions about the experiences of female officials in a predominantly male environment.
