Netflix Introduces New True Crime Docuseries with a Romantic Twist: ‘Dirty John’
Netflix to Explore the Dark Saga of John Meehan in New True Crime Docuseries
Netflix is set to delve into the chilling story of notorious conman John Meehan with its upcoming true crime docuseries, Dirty John. The series revisits the life of the predatory bachelor, whose manipulative tactics led to a disturbing tale of harassment and psychological abuse that captured national attention in the 2010s.
The docuseries promises to provide an in-depth look at Meehan’s life, revealing the complexities of his deceitful behavior that ultimately resulted in a tragic downfall for the victims involved. Touted as “the definitive documentary series of the man behind the myth,” it will feature previously unseen archival materials, compelling evidence, and testimonies from the women who survived Meehan’s machinations, as well as insights from the investigators who worked on the case.
John Meehan’s story was previously adapted into a 2018 Bravo series of the same name, based on the podcast by Christopher Goffard, with Eric Bana portraying the titular character.
Produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, Empress Films, and Emma Cooper, the docuseries will also see executive production from Julie Pizzi, Jesse Daniels, and Melissa G. Moore. The anticipated release marks another significant entry in the growing genre of true crime programming.
