Neon Plans Christmas Release for Chloe Domont’s New Thriller ‘A Place In Hell’
Neon Announces December 25 Release for ‘A Place in Hell’
Neon has officially slated December 25 as the release date for its highly anticipated winter film, A Place in Hell. The film, written and directed by Chloe Domont, features a stellar cast including Michelle Williams, known for My Week with Marilyn and Blue Valentine, Daisy Edgar-Jones from Twisters and On Swift Horses, and Andrew Scott, star of Ripley and the forthcoming Wake Up Dead Man.
First-look footage of Domont’s follow-up to Fair Play will be unveiled at CinemaCon, an annual exhibition industry conference taking place in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Produced by MRC and T-Street, A Place in Hell is co-financed by Neon, MRC, and Republic Pictures. The thriller follows a cutthroat criminal defense attorney, played by Williams, whose career ambitions are threatened when a younger attorney, portrayed by Edgar-Jones, is brought in as her replacement. The rivalry between the two escalates, forcing them to confront each other in dangerous and extreme circumstances.
Neon arrives at this winter release after a successful awards season, boasting 18 Oscar nominations, including a win for Sentimental Value. The distributor is also preparing for Cannes, where it will present five films in competition: Na Hong-Jin’s Hope, Arthur Harari’s The Unknown, Cristian Mungiu’s Fjord, Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s All of a Sudden, and Hirokazu Koreeda’s Sheep in the Box. Additionally, Nicolas Winding Refn’s Her Private Hell will be showcased out of competition. Notably, Neon has represented the past six winners of the prestigious Palme d’Or at Cannes.
