Woman Found Dead in Santa Ana River Identified
LOS ANGELES – A woman was discovered deceased Thursday in the Santa Ana River, prompting a response from local authorities.
Firefighters received a call around noon on January 1 for a water rescue in the 2500 block of Harbor Boulevard, near the Costa Mesa Country Club. According to the Orange County Fire Authority, a rescue team successfully recovered the body roughly two miles downriver from the original location.
The body was handed over to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and officials confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of her death is currently undetermined.
A GoFundMe campaign has identified her as Alejandra Torres, a mother of two. “This sudden and heartbreaking loss has deeply affected our family, and we are doing everything we can to support Alejandra’s girls as they face an uncertain future without their mother,” the campaign stated. Efforts are underway to raise funds for her funeral and support for her daughters.
