Mother and Daughter Thwart Attempted Kidnapping in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. – A man is in custody following an attempted kidnapping that unfolded Wednesday afternoon, thanks to the quick actions of a mother and her 15-year-old daughter.
The incident occurred around noon near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and East Street. According to police reports, the pair were walking along the sidewalk when Jose Gudino allegedly jumped from nearby bushes, attempting to pull them away while threatening sexual assault.
The mother and daughter managed to free themselves from Gudino’s grasp and immediately called 911, providing a detailed description of the suspect. Police apprehended Gudino within two hours of the attack. He now faces felony charges, including kidnapping and attempted sexual assault.
Authorities praised the mother and daughter’s vigilance, stating their swift response was crucial in leading to the suspect’s timely arrest.
Gudino is currently in custody as the Orange County District Attorney’s office reviews the case for potential formal charges. Investigators are also assessing whether he may be linked to other unsolved incidents in the North Orange County area.
