Child Missing Since 2020 Found in North Carolina
A child who was last seen in Duarte in 2020 has been located in North Carolina, according to an announcement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services reported the child missing on July 1, 2020, after concerns arose during an investigation involving the child and the child’s mother. The mother, believed to have taken the child, had ceased communication with DCFS personnel.
Following a tip-off, detectives from the Temple Station identified a potential location for the child in Washington County, North Carolina. On Friday, they reached out to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, which subsequently conducted an investigation and found the child enrolled in a local school.
The sheriff’s department confirmed that the child has been safely recovered and is now in protective custody.
The investigation is ongoing, with the sheriff’s department collaborating with DCFS and local authorities in North Carolina to gather further details.
