Miley Cyrus Reflects on 20 Years of Hannah Montana in Upcoming Disney+ Special
Miley Cyrus opened the first trailer for Disney+’s upcoming Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special with a heartfelt declaration: “I’ll be getting emotional.” The highly anticipated special is set to premiere on March 24, coinciding with the exact date the original series debuted on the Disney Channel two decades ago.
The anniversary special, filmed before a live studio audience, promises to deliver an exclusive interview with Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper of the Call Her Daddy podcast. Fans can expect to see never-before-seen archival footage and the revival of iconic sets from the series, including the Stewart family living room and the legendary Hannah Montana closet.
Cyrus expressed her enduring connection to the show, saying, “Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection. The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Originally airing from 2006 to 2011 for four seasons, Hannah Montana not only captivated audiences but also inspired a feature film, Hannah Montana: The Movie, which grossed over $155 million worldwide in 2009.
The special is produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions. Ashley Edens serves as showrunner, with Miley Cyrus, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Alex Cooper, and Matt Kaplan as executive producers.
As excitement builds for the 20th anniversary, Cyrus tweeted, “Happy Hannah-versary! The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary special premieres March 24 on Disney+.”
This upcoming celebration not only marks a significant milestone for the series but also underscores the lasting impact Hannah Montana has had on its viewers and its star.
