Mild 4.1 Earthquake Shakes Inland Empire Desert Region
Magnitude 4.1 Earthquake Strikes Ludlow Area
A preliminary magnitude 4.1 earthquake rattled the Ludlow region in San Bernardino County on Friday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The seismic event occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m., situated just north of Interstate 40, about 35 miles east of Barstow and 52 miles northwest of Twentynine Palms.
While the tremor was not broadly felt, numerous residents in Barstow, Victorville, and Hesperia reported experiencing the minor quake. The USGS acknowledged these reports, indicating that local communities were briefly jolted but that there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries.
Earthquakes in Southern California are not uncommon, given the region’s proximity to several fault lines. The USGS continues to monitor seismic activity throughout the area, providing updates as necessary.
