Michelle Branch Remembers a Diddy Afterparty
In a recent Instagram Stories post, singer-songwriter Michelle Branch recounted the aftermath of attending a 2004 afterparty hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs during the MTV Video Music Awards. On December 15, Branch shared a text exchange with her former Wreckers bandmate, Jessica Harp, sparking a trip down memory lane.
Harp, reflecting on the party while watching the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, noted that they had been at an event where “one of the freak offs absolutely happened.” This was a term referencing the extravagant parties Diddy was known for hosting.
“Oh. My. God. I’ve wondered tbh," Branch replied, signaling her surprise at the revelation.

Branch and Harp both expressed relief over their early departure from the party. Harp recalled, “I don’t remember why we left, but so glad our night was smoking weed and eating tacos with Owen Wilson instead." Branch concurred, responding with a simple, “Same lol.”
The two artists, who have been friends for years, formed The Wreckers and released the debut album Sit Still Look Pretty in 2006, featuring the hit "Leave The Pieces." They disbanded in 2008 to focus on their solo careers.

The recent docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning explores the music mogul’s career and follows events leading up to his 2025 trial. It covers his rise to fame, his contentious relationships, and serious allegations that have emerged against him.
Following charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and other serious offenses, Combs was indicted in September 2024. Federal authorities, upon raiding his properties, reportedly discovered over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, purportedly linked to the excessive parties he orchestrated.
In October, Combs was sentenced to four years in prison for prostitution-related charges, with the court rejecting the characterization of the offenses as mere "intimate consensual experiences."
As discussions surrounding these revelations continue, both Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp appear grateful for the choices they made that night back in 2004.
