Meghan Trainor has addressed the ongoing controversy regarding “toxic” mom group dynamics stemming from Ashley Tisdale French’s viral personal essay in The Cut. On January 12, Trainor utilized TikTok to clarify her stance in response to recent discussions.
In her latest TikTok video, Trainor lip-syncs a scene from the popular series Stranger Things, where the character Holly Wheeler attempts to convince her peers of an imaginary friend’s true nature. The audio clip features the line, “Come on you have to believe me! Please, you have to believe me, you have to believe me.” Accompanying her video, Trainor remarked, “Me still trying to convince everyone I’m not involved in the mom group drama,” emphasizing her innocence with a caption stating, “I swear I’m innocent.”
Trainor, who is allegedly part of Tisdale French’s previous social circle, previously expressed her shock upon hearing about the group’s toxic reputation. In a TikTok from January 8, she humorously recounted her reaction to the drama following Tisdale’s essay, which encouraged individuals to step away from unhealthy relationships.

In her previous video, Trainor depicted herself reacting in disbelief while typing at her computer, set to her new single “Still Don’t Care” from her upcoming album, Toy with Me, scheduled for release on April 24.
Daryl Sabara also weighed in on the situation, asserting there is no ongoing feud between Trainor and Tisdale. In a conversation with TMZ, he stated that their focus remains on caring for their young children, Barry, 2, and Riley, 4½. “No drama over here, just trying to keep the kids happy, you know?” Sabara remarked, expressing concern for Tisdale’s well-being amidst the unfolding events.
In her essay, Tisdale French framed her experience with her former mom group as an empowering reminder to walk away from relationships that no longer serve one’s well-being. She noted, “If a mom group consistently leaves you feeling hurt, drained or left out, it’s not the mom group for you. Choosing to step away doesn’t make you mean or judgmental. It makes you honest with yourself. It’s also worth remembering that friendships, like all relationships, have seasons.”
