Meghan Markle Celebrates Big News with a Sweet Childhood Photo of Her and Her Mom
Meghan Markle recently took to Instagram to share a nostalgic throwback photo from her childhood, featuring herself as a young Girl Scout alongside her mother, Doria Ragland, who served as her troop leader. This post coincides with the announcement of the premiere of an Archewell documentary titled Cookie Queens at the Sundance Festival.
Markle described the documentary, which focuses on the tradition of selling Girl Scout cookies, as a "full circle" moment in her life. She and her husband, Prince Harry, serve as executive producers through their company, Archewell Productions.
In her Instagram Story, Markle expressed her personal connection to the project: "As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary." She further emphasized her excitement, stating, "When we first viewed the early footage… it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in."
The official description of Cookie Queens, according to Deadline, describes the film as "captivating, candid, and full of heart." It follows four girls, aged five to twelve, and their families as they navigate the whirlwind of selling cookies, highlighting how the experience shapes their understanding of entrepreneurship.
Earlier this year, Markle shared additional memories from her cookie-selling days, reflecting on her early start as an entrepreneur. "Being an entrepreneur can start young. (By the way, all these years later and I’m still selling cookies!)," she wrote.
In her own words, Markle conveyed the lasting impact that her experience as a Girl Scout has had on her. "I was a Girl Scout for so many years," she noted in a previous episode of her show, With Love, Meghan. "I started as a Daisy… and I sold a lot of cookies. My mom was troop leader—Troop 949."
The upcoming Cookie Queens documentary is shaping up to be a meaningful tribute to the lessons learned during her formative years.
