Megan Thee Stallion Shares Insights on Her Broadway Debut, Working with Juvenile, and Adding Her Flavor to a New Nickelback Song for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

Megan Thee Stallion is enjoying a prolific start to 2023, leaving little room for her critics. The three-time Grammy-winning rapper has released her latest Billboard Hot 100 single, “Lover Girl,” collaborated with Southern rap legend Juvenile on a remix of his viral track “B.B.B.,” and made her Broadway debut as Zidler in *Moulin Rouge*, marking a historic first for a woman in that role.
Beyond her musical accomplishments, Megan has expanded her entrepreneurial ventures. In 2022, she launched her tequila brand, Chicas Divertidas, and in January, opened her first Popeyes franchise in South Beach, Florida. Previously, she teamed up with Frito-Lay for a Super Bowl LVI commercial featuring her single “Flamin’ Hottie,” which samples Salt-N-Pepa’s iconic “Push It” and celebrates her love for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Now, Megan is collaborating with Cheetos once again for a new campaign promoting the return of the popular Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle flavor. This partnership introduces a remix of Nickelback’s 2001 hit “How You Remind Me,” reimagined as “Pickle’s Back,” showcasing a blend of rock and rap.
In an exclusive interview ahead of the campaign announcement, Billboard spoke with Megan Thee Stallion about her Flamin’ Hot collaborations, upcoming album *MEGAN: ACT III*, her Broadway role, and the status of her critics.
As a noted foodie, why did you choose to reunite with Cheetos?
“I feel like the relationship that Flamin’ Hot and I have built has been very organic since I was a child,” she said. “To grow up and work with the brand feels like a full-circle moment. I get to share my crazy concoctions and we all compare notes. It feels like a little family over here.”
You’ve collaborated with Spiritbox in the past. What was it like working with Nickelback on ‘Pickle’s Back’?
“It sounds crazy, but when you put it together, it’s like, ‘Wow, I did not know my two worlds needed to collide like this,’” Megan said. “When I got the opportunity to remix this nostalgic song, I was excited to see what I could bring to it.” She added, “Nickelback was super excited too, which surprised me. When we met, they were fans, and we were all just fanning out.”
Are there any other rock songs you’d love to work on?
<p"I love Paramore and Hayley Williams. When I hit the gym, I’m often listening to ‘Ain’t It Fun,’ so remixing that could definitely be in my future!”
Your recent collaboration with Juvenile has received a lot of attention. How did that come about?
“Juvenile is a legend! It doesn’t matter where you play his songs; he always gets the party started. When I heard ‘B.B.B.,’ I knew I had to be part of it. I told him, ‘Friend, send me the instrumental!’” She noted, “The hotties aren’t ready for what we have planned next.”
When can fans expect your new album?
<p"It’s going to be Act III, wrapping up this saga I’ve been working on. It should be out in 2026, and I’m doing something a bit different this time — perhaps introducing another alter ego."
Congratulations on your Broadway debut! What has that experience been like?
<p"This is not just another concert for me; I’m stepping into Zidler’s shoes. I can’t wait for the hotties to come see me perform!" she said, urging fans to dress the part for the show. "This is different from my usual performances, and I want them to be ready for a Broadway experience."
You’re the first woman to play Zidler. What will you bring to the role?
<p"I’ll add a new type of sass and energy, my own personality. Zidler is going to be a unique character," she explained.
Will we hear any of your songs in *Moulin Rouge*?
<p"Definitely! I’ll put a little Megan Thee Stallion spice into the existing music, so get ready," she remarked.
Lastly, you tweeted about it being a bad time for your haters. Any final words for them?
<p"I’m sticking to that. It’s the wrong time to hate on me. I’m not done yet, and 2026 is still a long way off," she concluded.
