Marco Grazzini Reflects on His Departure from Virgin River and What’s Next
Marco Grazzini is departing the Netflix series Virgin River after six successful seasons, signaling a significant transition in his career. Grazzini, who portrays Mike Valenzuela, confirmed his exit following the completion of Season 7.
“I have nothing but love for the cast, crew, and especially the phenomenal fans who make the show so special. I’m excited for this new chapter in my career,” Grazzini expressed.
In the Season 7 finale, Grazzini’s character developed a relationship with a visiting medical investigator who had expressed her interest in him. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith noted that Mike Valenzuela will take a backseat for a while until new storylines are ready. “We have so many relationships already that I think a little bit of that was just a sort of happy ending for this chapter for Mike to find his way back to Victoria and to explore what happens there,” he said. Smith added, “But I love Marco and could see his character coming back in a more substantive role if the creative is right.”
Virgin River follows Mel Monroe, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, who answers a job ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in Northern California. Initially believing the small town would offer a peaceful new beginning, she quickly learns that Virgin River is anything but quiet.
The series premiered in 2019 and features a diverse cast including Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, and Ben Hollingsworth among others.
