Man Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle While Fleeing Police in Hollywood
A man sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to evade police in Hollywood on Saturday evening, according to authorities.
The incident began around 8:30 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Harold Way in response to a report of a suspect involved in an “assault with a deadly weapon.” Upon the officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the scene.
The man entered the southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway near Hollywood Boulevard, where he was subsequently struck by a vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital in an undisclosed condition.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene, issuing a Sig-Alert and closing the freeway until approximately 9:45 p.m., when all lanes were reopened.
Sgt. Lee, the watch commander for the LAPD West Traffic Division, reported that while the suspect suffered major injuries, they were not life-threatening. The LAPD is currently leading the investigation into the incident.
