Flanked by four women holding her grey veil trains, Madonna graced the red carpet in a black ensemble adorned with an old-timey seacraft headdress. The design, created by Anthony Vaccarello, drew inspiration from British-Mexican painter Leonora Carrington’s work, The Temptation of St. Anthony, as reported by Harper’s Bazaar. This year’s Met Gala theme, “Fashion Is Art,” aligns perfectly with Madonna’s surrealist, campy flair, which has consistently defined her appearances at this prestigious event.
In the lead-up to her album, Madonna recently teased Confessions II with the release of “I Feel So Free” and the single “Bring Your Love,” a duet with Sabrina Carpenter. This collaboration followed a surprise performance by Madonna during Carpenter’s set at Coachella. Additionally, Carpenter also made a statement on the Met Gala red carpet, wearing a gown crafted from film strips of the 1954 romantic comedy Sabrina, starring Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, which she described as “one of my favorite films of all time.”
This year’s Met Gala also featured Beyoncé as one of the co-chairs, who made her appearance a family affair with daughter Blue Ivy and husband Jay-Z by her side. For a glimpse of other artists who attended the 2026 Met Gala, a photo gallery is available to explore.
