Luka’s 31 Points and Reaves’ Strong Second Half Lead Lakers to Season Sweep Over Timberwolves 120-106
Lakers Secure Victory Over Timberwolves Despite James’ Absence
In a commanding performance, the Los Angeles Lakers triumphed over the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning 120-106 on Tuesday night. This marks the Lakers’ third consecutive victory over the Timberwolves this season, and it improved their record to 13-8 in games without their star player, LeBron James.
Luka Doncic was instrumental in the Lakers’ success, posting 31 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds, marking his seventh triple-double of the season and the 89th of his career. This achievement places him seventh on the all-time NBA triple-double list. Austin Reaves also shone brightly, scoring 29 of his 31 points in a sensational second half, helping the Lakers catch up to Minnesota for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
James has been sidelined due to injuries, missing his third consecutive game. Despite his absence, the Lakers have maintained a strong performance, winning six of their last seven games. James previously missed the Lakers’ initial two victories against the Timberwolves during October.
Deandre Ayton contributed significantly for the Timberwolves with 14 points and 12 rebounds, although Anthony Edwards struggled, finishing with just 14 points on a challenging 2-for-15 shooting night. The Timberwolves have now faced two consecutive losses after a five-game winning streak and are on the road for a four-game trip.
The first half was a struggle for both teams, with the Lakers hitting just four of their first 21 shots and managing only 16 points in the first quarter. However, Reaves ignited a turnaround, scoring 16 points in the third quarter. His remarkable performance included two four-point plays, and he concluded the game with a season-best seven three-pointers.
As the Lakers continue to adapt without James, their recent success suggests resilience and teamwork, leaving fans hopeful for the remainder of the season.
