Luka Doncic Will Not Play Saturday Against the Warriors
Luka Doncic Out with Hamstring Strain Ahead of Warriors Game
Luka Doncic has been diagnosed with a strained left hamstring and will not participate in the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena.
The injury occurred late in the second quarter during the Lakers’ recent victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night. Doncic sustained the strain while attempting to return to defense after a turnover. He initially tried to continue playing but had to exit after the Lakers called a timeout with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter.
Before leaving the game, Doncic had contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists. He currently leads the NBA in scoring with an average of 33.4 points per game and ranks third in assists at 8.7 per game.
Following the game, Doncic was seen limping down the hallway. Lakers coach JJ Redick indicated that an MRI would be conducted on Friday to assess the extent of the injury, though the team has not yet provided a timetable for his return.
Teammate Austin Reaves expressed concern for Doncic’s well-being, stating, "We need him. He’s our best player and the engine of a lot of the stuff that we do. Yeah, so, hopefully we get good news [Friday] and I wish him nothing but the best."
