Luka Doncic Fined for Gesture in Lakers’ Win Over Knicks
Luka Doncic has been fined $50,000 for an inappropriate gesture directed at an official during the Lakers’ 110-97 victory against the New York Knicks, the NBA confirmed.
The incident occurred with 4:35 left in the third quarter when Doncic fell backward after making contact with Knicks forward Mohamed Diawara while driving toward the basket. In response, Doncic raised his hands in a "money" gesture, rubbing his fingers together to signify a monetary request.
Following the play, Diawara passed the ball to Josh Hart, who scored with a layup, contributing to the Knicks’ efforts.
The fine imposed on Doncic represents approximately 0.109% of his $46 million salary for the current season. Despite the incident, Doncic delivered a stellar performance, finishing the game with a high of 35 points, along with eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Next, the Lakers (39-25) are set to host the Timberwolves (40-24) on Tuesday night.
