Lucas Bravo Shares Insights on Conversations and Personal Preferences
During an exclusive interview at the world premiere of Emily in Paris Season 5 held in Paris on December 15, actor Lucas Bravo opened up about his views on communication. The 37-year-old star, known for his role as Gabriel, a charismatic chef in the Netflix series, expressed a common frustration: he dislikes small talk.
“I hate small talk. I hate talking about the weather and stuff like that,” Bravo stated emphatically. “I don’t have time for this.”

Instead, Bravo prefers in-depth conversations that explore significant themes. “I can’t get enough deep conversations—talking about unconditional love and boundaries and self-love and patterns and how to evolve and grow,” he explained. “I love having those conversations with people.”
Bravo plays Gabriel, a character he initially struggled to secure. He revealed that he was initially rejected for the role due to concerns from Paramount, the studio’s parent company, about his lack of experience.
However, a pivotal chemistry read with co-star Lily Collins changed the trajectory of his career. Creator Darren Star advocated for Bravo, leading to his eventual casting.

As he looks forward to the new year, Bravo is excited about a busy schedule ahead. “I have some great, great projects lined up—I’m booked until next December,” he confirmed. “I honestly can’t wait to get to those projects, because I’m getting into a lot of diverse, crazy challenging roles, and I’ve been waiting for that for a long time. I’ve been working hard to get here.”
All ten episodes of Emily in Paris Season 5 premiered on Netflix on December 18.
