Londynn Jones Achieves Personal Best with 28 Points in USC Women’s Dominating Win Over Cal Poly
USC Women’s Basketball Dominates Cal Poly in 86-39 Victory
The USC women’s basketball team secured a commanding 86-39 victory over Cal Poly on Thursday night at the Galen Center.
Londynn Jones led the Trojans with a career-high 28 points, successfully making 11 of 16 field goal attempts. She was supported by Jazzy Davidson, who contributed 17 points and nine rebounds. Despite a sluggish start, with Davidson converting only three of her first 11 shots, the team began to find their rhythm in the second half.
At the outset of the game, the Trojans, now boasting an 8-3 record, struggled against a determined Mustangs squad (2-9) that had managed to grab 15 rebounds by halftime. However, as the contest unfolded, USC’s defense stifled Cal Poly, forcing them to exceed the shot clock on multiple occasions while generating 27 turnovers that led to 39 points for the Trojans.
The third quarter showcased USC’s dominance as they erupted with 10 consecutive points, limiting Cal Poly to just five points in that period. By the close of the quarter, USC had extended their lead to an impressive 71-28.
In addition to their defensive prowess, the Trojans marked the game with 15 steals and impressive bench contributions, scoring a total of 45 points from the reserves.
