Justin Bieber is receiving acclaim from his peers following his headlining performance at Coachella.
Lizzo expressed her admiration in a heartfelt Instagram post on April 12, reflecting on the Canadian pop star’s performance the night before. Sharing livestream screenshots of Bieber on stage alongside an old YouTube video of himself playing in the background, she noted, “I watched a popstar who grew up in front of the world fully transcend into his artistry last night.”
“I watched someone who gave us his all, his whole life… finally nourish hisself,” Lizzo continued. “I have no pictures or videos because I was fully present in the moment. Justin invited us, and whoever chose to come with him was blessed with a beautiful ride. When you use your gift for God, it will make people uncomfortable. But that’s OK because the ones who stick beside you will feel the love.”
Labrinth also praised Bieber’s performance, sharing his enthusiasm on his Instagram Story. He wrote, “JUSTIN… I SEE WHAT YOUR [sic] DOING AND I LOVE IT … BE TRUE! F–K WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS.”
Bieber’s set was a highlight of the festival’s second day, following Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining act on Friday (April 10) and concluding with Karol G on Sunday. All three headliners and many other performers are set to return for the festival’s second weekend beginning on Friday (April 17).
The performance stood out as Bieber took a moment to scroll through YouTube, sharing some of his earliest viral videos with the audience. Among those reacting to his showcase were Katy Perry, who attended the festival with boyfriend Justin Trudeau, joking on Instagram, “Thank God he has Premium. I don’t wanna see no ads,” and Zara Larsson, who shared a video of herself watching the performance at home, writing, “It’s giving lets smoke and watch YouTube.”
