Lizzo Posts Edited Chris Brown Video Addressing Zara Larsson to Promote Her New Album

Lizzo has garnered attention following her playful edit featuring Chris Brown in support of her upcoming album, Bitch.
On Wednesday, May 13, the founder of Yitty shared a reworked version of a recent video posted by Brown, where he defended his new album, Brown. In the original clip shared on his Instagram Story the previous day, Brown passionately stated, “If you not my fan, I don’t want you to listen to my s–t. Go listen to motherf–king Zara Larsson or somebody.”
Lizzo’s edit starts with a segment of Brown’s video, then transitions to a still image of him with her eyes and mouth superimposed. She humorously adds, “Pre-order Lizzo’s album Bitch coming out June 5 or something,” applying a pitch shift to her voice as she mimics his original statement.
In her caption, she expressed surprise, writing, “I CANT BELIEVE CHRIS BROWN SAID THIS?????”
Billboard has reached out to Brown’s representatives for comment.
Lizzo has expressed admiration for Brown for years. In 2021, she faced backlash for requesting a photo with him backstage at the Millennium Tour, calling him her “favorite person in the whole f–king world.”
However, Brown’s public persona is complicated, due to his history of legal issues, notably a felony assault conviction involving Rihanna in 2009. He has faced scrutiny again, recently being arrested in Manchester in May 2025 on charges of “inflicting grievous bodily harm” related to an incident in a London nightclub two years earlier. He has pleaded not guilty and was released on bail set at $6.75 million, with a trial date scheduled for October 26.
His comments directed at Larsson likely reference her candid remarks in February to Cosmopolitan, where she mentioned having “so many artists” blocked on Spotify, explicitly citing Brown as one of them. The controversy surrounding his latest album release on May 8 has been exacerbated by reviews, including a critique from Pitchfork’s Alphonse Pierre, who described the album as “soulless, hit-chasing music.”
In his Instagram video, Brown concluded, “I don’t give a f–k what these n—as is talkin’ about. I know exactly who my fans is and I know exactly who hearing this album.”
