Lexie Hull recently engaged in playful banter with her Indiana Fever teammate Caitlin Clark, highlighting their camaraderie amid a challenging WNBA season. During an interview, Hull quipped that Clark might benefit from some sun, referencing their previous exchanges about tanning.
Just before the start of the last WNBA season in May, 23-year-old Clark humorously roasted Hull, 26, and Sophie Cunningham. She advised them to focus more on basketball following a glitzy media day photo, saying, “Little less tanning. A little more bball ladies.”
In response, Hull embraced the teasing, sharing, “She definitely jokes about it,” during the Glamour Women of the Year event. “Clark will make comments here and there, but it’s all in good fun.” She added that both she and Cunningham had teased Clark in return, noting, “She could probably use a little sun herself!”

The Fever faced a difficult season marked by injuries, losing both Clark and Cunningham before the playoffs. Despite these setbacks, the team exceeded expectations, nearly overcoming the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces, in the semifinals. Hull remarked, “This year was definitely a year of growth. We faced a lot of adversity with injuries — at one point, almost half our roster was out — but that helped us grow closer.”
Reflecting on the season, Hull expressed her gratitude for Clark, stating, “She’s one of my best friends on the team, and it’s been amazing growing together and chasing the same goals.” She emphasized their strong connection, saying, “We push each other in practice but also have so much fun; it’s a good balance of competitiveness and friendship.”
Off the court, Hull is also engaged in planning her upcoming wedding to fiancé Will Matthiessen. She commented, “We haven’t had too much time to dive into the details yet, but it’s been fun so far. That’s probably the hardest part, trying to plan while we’re both so busy.” Hull confirmed that her Fever teammates will definitely be part of the wedding celebrations, stating, “They’ll definitely be at the wedding, but we’ll see about the bridal party lineup.”
