LAUSD and Administrators’ Union Come to a Tentative Agreement
Los Angeles School District Nears Deal with Labor Groups
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is on the path to potentially averting a strike after announcing a tentative agreement with the Associated Administrators Los Angeles (AALA)/Teamsters 2010 on Sunday night.
The proposed agreement includes an 11.65% salary increase for members over the next two years, affecting a range of administrative workers, including middle managers within the district.
Earlier that day, LAUSD had also reached a tentative deal with United Teachers LA (UTLA), which includes similar salary provisions of an 11.65% increase and a new minimum salary of $77,000 for teachers.
Negotiations, however, remain ongoing with SEIU Local 99, which represents approximately 30,000 bus drivers, custodians, and cafeteria workers. Union leaders had previously indicated a strike could be imminent if agreements were not finalized by Tuesday, which would significantly disrupt operations across LAUSD’s 1,302 campuses.
In preparation for potential disruptions, LAUSD officials launched a dedicated website on Thursday for students, parents, and community members. This resource will provide updates on negotiations as well as information on food distribution, mental health resources, alternative childcare options, and tech support.
