LAFC Celebrates Third Consecutive Shutout with Win Against FC Dallas
David Martinez Secures LAFC Victory Over FC Dallas
David Martinez scored the decisive goal in the second half, leading Los Angeles FC (LAFC) to a 1-0 victory over FC Dallas on Saturday night. Hugo Lloris, the team’s goalkeeper, recorded his third consecutive clean sheet to start the season.
The match remained scoreless until the 55th minute when Martinez netted his first goal of the season. Assisted by Stephen Eustáquio and defender Sergi Palencia, this marked the 20-year-old’s ninth career goal across 49 appearances and 20 starts. Eustáquio has made an impactful debut in Major League Soccer (MLS), contributing one goal and two assists in his first three matches. Palencia’s assist was his first of the season and the ninth in his 86-match career.
Lloris impressively tallied five saves during the match, helping LAFC maintain a perfect record of 3-0-0 in the season—marking the best start in the club’s nine-year history. This victory also signifies the team’s fifth consecutive win in all competitions, with an impressive goal differential of 6-0 in their first three league matches.
For FC Dallas, Michael Collodi made five saves in his third start this season, a commendable effort after allowing only eight goals in nine starts last season. Both goalkeepers showcased their skills during a scoreless first half, but ultimately, it was Martinez’s strike that sealed the match for LAFC.
Historically, LAFC leads the all-time series against FC Dallas with an 8-4-3 record, including a strong 6-0-1 mark at home. LAFC kicked off the season with a dominant 3-0 victory over defending champion Inter Miami and followed that with a 2-0 win against the Houston Dynamo. Additionally, the club has advanced to the Round of 16 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup after securing victories over Real España.
FC Dallas, on the other hand, opened their season with a thrilling 3-2 win against Toronto FC and recently played to a scoreless draw with Nashville SC.
Looking ahead, LAFC will face St. Louis City at BMO Stadium on Saturday.
