Lady Eliza and Amelia Spencer Honor Princess Diana by Recreating One of Her Beloved Outfits
Princess Diana’s Legacy Celebrated at Cheltenham Festival
On March 13, Lady Eliza and Amelia Spencer, nieces of the late Princess Diana, made a fashionable statement at the Cheltenham Festival by donning matching tweed suits and coats. Their outfits paid homage to the iconic tweed skirt suit worn by Diana during her 1981 honeymoon at Balmoral in Scotland. The original suit was designed by Bill Pashley and has since become one of Diana’s most recognized looks.
In a modern twist, the Spencer twins’ ensembles featured distinct plaid patterns. Lady Eliza opted for a brown suit, pairing trousers and a vest with a matching coat, while Lady Amelia chose a pale green set, complete with trousers, a coat, and a blue shirt with a tie. Their looks were finalized with brown leather flats and coordinated Aspinal of London handbags.
Diana’s original suit, also a checked two-piece, was crafted to reflect traditional English country wear, a fitting choice for her Scottish honeymoon. It was reported that Diana had two versions made, one designed for greater comfort during outdoor activities.
The Spencer twins have frequently showcased coordinated outfits, often reflecting Diana’s timeless style. For instance, last August, they wore matching silk gowns reminiscent of Diana’s pale blue dress from her 1987 appearance at Cannes.
“It comes quite naturally to us since our style and taste are so incredibly similar,” Amelia Spencer shared in a previous interview. She noted that the sisters often end up selecting identical outfits.
This recent appearance not only highlights their shared sense of fashion but also keeps the memory of their aunt alive in the public consciousness.
