The duo stars in Maybe This Christmas, a five-episode microdrama for Maybelline New York. The new project promises to offer a playful twist on the holiday romance genre.
This latest production, created by Ryan Reynolds’ entertainment company, Maximum Effort, features two flirty neighbors whose relationship takes an unexpected turn. “This holiday season, she’s concealing something — and he really loves hot cocoa,” a dramatic voiceover teases in the trailer. Chabert also hints, “Maybe this Christmas will be different. Maybe, just maybe, I can conceal who I really am.”

“Everyone knows I love telling holiday stories so much, it’s such a huge part of my life,” stated the 43-year-old Chabert. “This is a fun little wink to the genre. It’s light and whimsical, and I love that it has a cheeky twist.” The actress expressed enthusiasm for reuniting with Milligan on this project, highlighting her fondness for collaborating on something she already loves—Maybelline’s Instant Eraser Concealer.
Milligan, 40, echoed her sentiments, saying, “You don’t need me to say the words ‘Queen of Christmas,’ but I will, and I did. Any opportunity where you get to reunite with somebody that you enjoyed working with and actually had an element of joy in the work process, it’s so rare.” He emphasized the joy of engaging with narrative expectations in a fresh way through their new project.

Milligan found the experience on set enjoyable, noting the freedom to ad-lib during scenes. Chabert added, “It’s nice when you’re on a set that is so playful.” She is also set to appear in the upcoming hallmark film She’s Making a List, which premieres on December 6.
Expressing her long-standing affection for Maybelline’s products, Chabert remarked, “I’ve had the Instant Age Rewind Eraser in my makeup bag for years.” Milligan, who admitted to using similar products, shared how attitudes toward makeup have evolved in the industry over time.
