Kyle Fraser is preparing for a significant transition, moving from the challenges of reality television to the joys of parenthood.
The 32-year-old, who gained fame as the winner of Survivor 48, and his wife Maggie confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE that they are expecting their first child together. The couple is looking forward to welcoming their new addition in May, just as Fraser gears up to compete in the landmark 50th season of the series, set to air in February.
“We were celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary at a cabin in Kingston, New York, with our two dogs,” Fraser recalled of the moment they learned about the pregnancy. “Maggie felt a little off but didn’t mention anything at the time.”
Upon returning to Brooklyn, Maggie surprised Fraser with the news after taking a pregnancy test at home.

Fraser noted that significant life events have unfolded rapidly over the past two years, remarking, “With Survivor (twice), our marriage, and other things, we have had no shortage of major life events. It would be an understatement to say people have gotten used to us giving them news.”

Although the couple is aware of the baby’s sex, they are keeping that information private for now. “We found out the sex but haven’t spread the news broadly just yet,” said Fraser. He noted the interesting dynamics within their families, with his side traditionally having boys and Maggie’s side having girls, indicating that a birth will be a novel experience for one family.
While the couple has discussed potential names, they plan to keep their choice a secret until the baby arrives. “We were having a lot of fun bouncing ideas off each other, especially after we found out the sex, but we think we have the winner locked down,” Fraser said. “Our plan is to keep it to ourselves until the baby is born and then make sure the name fits when we meet them.”

Looking ahead, the couple expresses eagerness to embrace the changes that parenting will bring. “We both can’t wait to see the other as a parent and have loved every moment—from seeing the baby on the ultrasound to starting to feel kicks,” they shared. They added that their Brooklyn neighborhood is kid-friendly, allowing them to envision their future family life.
“It’s the perfect type of uncertainty, and we’re ready for it,” they concluded.
