In a recent appearance on the "Smartless" podcast, Kris Jenner revealed that her daughter Kylie Jenner invested every penny earned from "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" to launch Kylie Cosmetics at just 17 years old.

Reflecting on this pivotal moment, Kris, 70, recounted how Kylie approached her with a firm vision for her future in the beauty industry. "She goes, ‘Mom, I know what I want to do for the rest of my life, and it’s beauty. And I want to, you know, do this Lip Kit, and now you’ve got to take this and run with it and figure out how to make it,’" Kris shared.

Kris expressed initial apprehension regarding the endeavor, particularly when Kylie decided to use her earnings for the business. "I can’t relax. You just spent every dime you’ve ever made on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ to start your own brand by yourself with your own money," Kris noted, reflecting on a conversation where she questioned the details of their marketing strategy. In contrast, Kylie responded confidently, urging her mother to trust her instincts. “She goes, ‘Are we okay, mom? Like, I know what I’m doing. Just relax,’” Kris recalled.

Kylie officially launched Kylie Cosmetics in 2015, immediately achieving success and disrupting the beauty market. "I’ll never forget the morning she launched her brand, which was the first time she disrupted an entire beauty business,” Kris said. She described how Kylie’s launch garnered overwhelming demand, remarking, "It was just sold out in seconds. And then we knew, you know. Then it was on."

The brand’s rapid rise propelled Kylie to billionaire status by 2019, solidifying her place within the beauty industry. As Kris reminisced about the early days of Kylie Cosmetics, she emphasized the impact of Kylie’s vision and drive, concluding, "She was the first one to do that."

In celebration of the brand’s 10th anniversary last October, Kylie released a limited edition "King Kylie Lip Kit" collection, commemorating her journey from reality star to beauty mogul, and reflecting on her legacy in the industry.
