Koreatown Apartment Fire Forces Nearly 20 Residents to Evacuate
Fire Breaks Out in Koreatown Apartment Building, Displacing Residents
A fire erupted in the attic of an apartment building in Koreatown on Tuesday morning, prompting the evacuation of residents. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on James M. Wood Boulevard near Irolo Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke emanating from the two-story garden-style apartment. Approximately 90 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and they successfully extinguished the blaze within an hour. The fire caused partial collapse of the building’s roof, according to the fire department.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters; however, at least 18 individuals were displaced by the fire. City officials have reached out to the Red Cross to provide support for those affected.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
