Kings Fall Short in Overtime Battle Against Vegas
Vegas Golden Knights Prevail Over Kings in Overtime Thriller
In a gripping matchup, Mark Stone scored just 25 seconds into overtime, leading the Vegas Golden Knights to a 3-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. Jack Eichel played a pivotal role, providing three assists throughout the game, including the decisive setup for Stone, who found the net with an open shot.
The Golden Knights secured their fifth consecutive win after Brandt Clarke equalized for the Kings with only 1:27 left in regulation. Clarke jammed in a pass from Adrian Kempe at the left post while Kings’ goaltender Darcy Kuemper was pulled for an extra attacker.
Braeden Bowman and Mitch Marner also contributed goals for the Golden Knights. Goaltender Akira Schmid made 22 saves, helping the team earn a point in six straight games. Meanwhile, Kevin Fiala registered a goal and an assist for the Kings, while Kuemper recorded 24 saves. The Kings are now facing challenges, having lost four of their last five games.
Schmid’s performance reflects his growing impact in the absence of top goaltender Adin Hill, who has been sidelined since October 20 due to a lower-body injury. With a current record of 14-4-5, Schmid’s play has been crucial for the Golden Knights as they prepare for their next home game on Thursday, where Hill may potentially make his return.
