Kings Secure Narrow Victory Over Predators in Shootout
In a thrilling matchup Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings edged out the Nashville Predators with a 3-2 victory, highlighted by Adrian Kempe’s decisive goal in the second round of the shootout. This win tightens the competition within the Western Conference playoff race.
The Kings demonstrated resilience as they have now gone into overtime in seven of their last ten games, amassing a total of 32 overtime games this season. Joel Armia set the tone early with a goal that opened the scoring, while Scott Laughton extended the lead to 2-1 in the second period. Jared Wright also made a noteworthy contribution, recording an assist for the third consecutive game, marking a career-best streak.
Steven Stamkos tied the game at 1-1 for the Predators, and Roman Josi added another goal to level the score at 2-2 early in the third period. Goaltender Anton Forsberg stood strong for the Kings, saving 29 shots, while the Predators’ Juuse Saros made 26 saves on the other end.
In a contest characterized by its competitiveness, the Kings managed to dominate the faceoff circle, winning 58.3% of the draws. Notably, all three meetings between the two teams this season have been decided by shootouts, including a previous 5-4 win for the Predators in Los Angeles just last Thursday.
