Kevin Kline Embraces Life with No Regrets in the ‘American Classic’ Trailer from MGM+
MGM+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming comedy series American Classic, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Kevin Kline, Laura Linney, and Jon Tenney.
In the series, Kline portrays Richard Bean, a Broadway star facing a public meltdown following a harsh review. The narrative follows his return to the family theater where he first discovered his talent.
Upon his return, Richard’s erratic behavior triggers crises among his family and friends, including his ex-girlfriend, now the town’s mayor (played by Linney), who is married to his brother (Tenney). The drama unfolds as Richard grapples with past decisions and rekindled emotions, delving into the complexities of family ties and aspirations in the world of theater. Each season will center on a different production by Richard Bean, highlighting the intricate dynamics of the Bean family and the transformative effect of artistic expression.
The cast also features Len Cariou, Nell Verlaque, Jessica Hecht, Tony Shalhoub, Ajay Friese, Billy Carter, Elise Kibler, Jane Alexander, Stephen Spinella, and Aaron Tveit.

Co-created by Michael Hoffman and Bob Martin, American Classic is produced by Fifth Season in partnership with Mar-Key Pictures and Likely Story, along with Anonymous Content. Executive producers include Hoffman, Martin, Ellen Fairey, and non-writing EPs Leslie Urdang, Anthony Bregman, Miriam Mintz, Kline, Linney, and Tenney, with Garrett Kemble, Kevin Cotter, Todd Sharp, and Jill Arthur also serving in that capacity. David Levine assumes the role of Co-Executive Producer.
The eight-episode series is set to premiere with two episodes on Sunday, March 1, followed by weekly installments leading up to the series finale on Sunday, April 12.
