Kevin Hart Joins Shane Gillis for a Fun Roast at Netflix Is A Joke Fest
EXCLUSIVE: Following his role as executive producer and co-host of The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which emerged as a cultural highlight of its release year, Kevin Hart is poised to be the subject of his own live roast on Sunday, May 10. This event will take place on the final night of the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Fest.
Shane Gillis, a prominent figure in contemporary comedy, will serve as the host for the ceremony. The roast is slated to unfold live at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles, with Hart contributing as an executive producer alongside Casey Patterson, Jeff Ross, Amy Zvi, and Hart’s manager, Dave Becky.
Hart previously hosted the 2024 roast of Tom Brady, alongside “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross. That special became one of Netflix’s leading live events, attracting two million viewers on its first night. Within a week, it amassed a staggering 1.67 billion minutes of viewing time, outpacing major series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Bluey in Nielsen’s overall streaming rankings.

The roast captivated audiences and dominated pop culture discussions for weeks. It spent three weeks in the Global Top 10, earning a spot in the top rankings of 49 countries and accumulating a remarkable 26 million views overall, solidifying the format’s return. The event also elevated Nikki Glaser’s profile, showcasing notable performers such as Kim Kardashian, Peyton Manning, and Ben Affleck.
While Hart’s selection as a roastee may seem predictable following Brady’s performance—who later reflected on the experience stating to The Pivot podcast that he “wouldn’t do that again” due to concerns for his loved ones—Hart’s familiarity with the format provides a sense of assurance. He has a history with roasting, having previously served as Roast Master for the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber in 2015 and participating in his own roast ahead of receiving the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2024.
With a career that has evolved from stand-up comedian and movie star to media mogul, Hart’s upcoming roast promises to be a remarkable event filled with memorable moments.
Apart from the roast, Hart will also take part in Netflix Is a Joke Fest with his comedy competition series, Funny AF, set to premiere on April 20. This series will lead up to the live semi-finals and finale during the festival on May 4 and 5. Hart is represented by WME, 3 Arts, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
Meanwhile, Gillis is preparing for a significant solo headlining show—his largest to date—scheduled for July 17 at Lincoln Financial Field, expected to draw over 60,000 fans. He will also headline “Shane Gillis & Friends” during Netflix Is a Joke Fest at the Hollywood Bowl on May 4. Gillis is represented by CAA, Range Media Partners, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
The third installment of Netflix Is a Joke Fest is set to run across Los Angeles from May 4 to May 10.
