Kerry Condon Joins Netflix’s ‘The God of the Woods’ Alongside Maya Hawke
BAFTA winner and Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon has been cast to co-headline Netflix’s forthcoming series, The God of the Woods, opposite Maya Hawke.
The series, helmed by executive producers and co-showrunners Liz Hannah and Liz Moore, is an adaptation of Moore’s bestselling work. It presents a multi-generational drama set in the Adirondacks, delving into the Van Laar family’s buried secrets, societal tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp. The narrative unfolds in the wake of a prior family tragedy that could be linked to the girl’s vanishing. As the storyline intertwines past events with present circumstances, it exposes the corrosive impacts of wealth and power.
In the series, Condon portrays Alice Van Laar, a woman grappling with grief from a previous family loss and ensnared in a strained marriage. Her life takes a harrowing turn when her daughter goes missing. Hawke plays Judy Luptack, a trailblazing investigator in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, tasked with uncovering the truth behind the girl’s disappearance.
Additional executive producers for The God of the Woods include Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, with Sony Pictures Television serving as the production studio.
Condon gained recognition for her Academy Award-nominated role in Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin and has recently appeared in two Best Picture Oscar nominees. These include Joseph Kosinski’s F1, which earned over $634 million globally, and Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams, where she starred alongside Joel Edgerton.
Looking ahead, Condon will feature alongside Brendan Fraser and Andrew Scott in Focus Features’ Pressure, a D-Day thriller based on David Haig’s 2014 stage play, set for release on May 29.
