Key Details
- Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have collaborated numerous times over the last three decades, from their beginnings on All That to Kenan and Kel and Good Burger.
- The duo is reuniting for a new horror film titled Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein.
- This horror-comedy will see the pair starring and producing, with co-production handled by Artists for Artists and Range Media Partners, and filming is set to begin this summer.
During the January 20 episode of Good Sports, a surprise guest appearance by Mitchell, 47, featured alongside Thompson, also 47. The reunion came with an exciting announcement regarding their upcoming film.
The two will both star and produce Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, which is described as a modern horror comedy. Thompson remarked, “Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected. We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”
Mitchell added, “Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets us tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new. It’s funny, it’s scary, and it’s a great ride.”
Inspired by classic Abbott and Costello monster films, the storyline follows two delivery drivers whose routine drop-off turns chaotic when they arrive at a spooky castle and inadvertently awaken Frankenstein’s monster, leading to a struggle for survival.
Joining the cast are Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Carter Swan, and Artists for Artists partner John Ryan Jr., with a script penned by Jonah Feingold. Ryan described the film with a nod to comedic predecessors: “First it was Abbott and Costello, then Pryor and Wilder. Kenan and Kel. Think Shaun of the Dead meets Scooby-Doo.”

Reflecting on their personal bond, the two actors discussed how their friendship endured despite a period of distance. In a previous interview, Mitchell likened their time apart to childhood friends heading off to college, while Thompson noted that time allowed them to reconnect, though it had been “ridiculously too long.”
Mitchell recalled, “I think we had a conversation on the phone one time. I remember that conversation. We talked for at least an hour or two and just was like, ‘Yeah, man.’ We were talking about everything. That bond was there, which I think is awesome.”

Thompson emphasized that their friendship is now “more solid than it ever was, if that was even possible.” He added, “There will never be another departure. We’ve already experienced the mysteries of, well, what if I went off and you went off and did this? We’ve seen what that is.”
He concluded, “Now, there’s no fear of it or feeling like we’re missing out. Everything is just easy.”
