Kelly Ripa Discusses Family Dynamics on Podcast
In a recent episode of her podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera, Kelly Ripa shared a personal holiday experience involving her children. During a conversation with guest Bronwyn Newport on February 3, Ripa revealed that she ceased communication with her three children—Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22—over a disagreement about photos intended for her Instagram account.
"I tried to post a family carousel on Instagram on Christmas. I stopped talking to my kids for about four hours because of the fighting over, ‘You can’t use that picture of me. Well, you can’t use that picture of me,’" Ripa recounted. "I was like, ‘Guys, it’s just a picture of us at church. It’s not that deep.’"
Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, also discussed the issue last December, when they made the decision to omit their children from their 2025 Christmas card due to similar disagreements. “We’re tired of getting all the photos approved by our kids every year,” Consuelos remarked. “They’re out.”

When the children learned of their parents’ unusual choice to feature a photo with Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders on the card, Ripa noted they felt "very slighted." Faced with years of navigating photo approvals, she declared, "I’m tired of waiting around for you to approve a picture. I’ve got to move."
This decision reflects a recurring theme in the couple’s holiday traditions. In previous years, when the children were not cooperative, Consuelos once utilized a photo of himself with his Riverdale cast members for their Christmas card, a choice Ripa fondly recalled.

As for the future of their Christmas card, Consuelos remarked that their children could return to the card "when they have kids" of their own, a sentiment echoed by Ripa, who added, “But until there’s grandchildren, they’re done. We’re just going to cut the kids out.”
Ripa’s discussion also touched upon generational differences in social media engagement, prompted by her inquiry about Newport’s daughter, Gwen, and her perspective on emerging fame from reality television. Newport noted, "Gwen does not care about the show at all," suggesting a contrast in their approaches to public life.
The full episode featuring Kelly Ripa and Bronwyn Newport is available on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy and will be released on various podcast platforms on February 11.
